Björn Otto was born on October 16, 1977 in Frechen, Germany and is one of the best German pole jumpers today. Coached by Michael Kühnke, he starts for LAV Bayer Uerdingen/Dormagen.
Björns personal best was 5.90 meters, which he was able to achieve both in the gym and outside. His greatest success was at the Athletics World Championship in Osaka, where he was very close with his 5.81 meters to the winning height of 5.86 meters. Before that, he could achieve the third place in the European Gym Championship. In May 2008 he won the International Marketplace Jumping in Recklinghausen for the third time.
