Answers regarding our offers

  1. What is included in the monthly fee?

    The monthly fee comprises the whole server rent including all hardware and software costs, the place in the data center, 4 IP addresses, 100 Mbit/s network connection, electricity costs and 24 hour reset service. Only data transfer is charged separately.

  3. How powerful are your servers?

    Even our standard systems are really powerful and offer many resources for extensive data bases, CGI programs and very large websites. Our servers can handle far more than 2 million hits per day, thus offering enough performance also for very popular websites.

  4. How well are the servers protected from failures?

    It is our highest priority to offer you the best availability of your server. We even guarantee a server availability of 99.99 % by contract. In general one can say that the availability of dedicated servers is always much better than of virtual servers. On the one hand it is due to the fact that all system resources are used by you alone, on the other hand your system is not in danger of crashing due to other people’s operating errors. Therefore, with a dedicated server you have full control of your internet presence.

  5. What happens if my server should fail all the same?

    Our offers include a 24/7 reset service on 365 days a year. If your system should fail, you can always order a reset in your customer interface.

    Of course your server is permanently maintained by us. In case of hardware defects, we replace the respective components quickly and free of charge.

  7. Is it possible to manage several different domains on a PlusServer?

    Yes, PlusServers are capable of multiple domains. You can store up to 500 virtual servers on a PlusServer. In our standard software there is a program included by which means you can setup new virtual domains within seconds in a comfortable web interface.

  8. Do I get full root access to my server?

    Of course! If desired, you can ask our support by phone to give you your root password so that you can have full root access on your server.

    Perl is installed on the server and you can use it without any limits.

  10. Am I allowed to publish erotic/pornographic content or files (e.g. MP3) for downloading?

    You may publish erotic content on your server as long as it does not violate German law and sufficient protection of minors is guaranteed. Moreover you can offer any files you want for downloading. However, you have to regard licensing right.

  11. Where are the servers located?

    The servers are located in our data center in Strasbourg (Europe). There, they are connected directly to our own European gigabit backbone. This backbone has peerings to the most important providers and internet exchanges in the world, e.g. Deutsche Telekom, Level 3, DE-CIX etc.

  12. Can I visit the PlusServer data center?

    Due to our security concept we can only grant access to our data center with advance notification and accompanied by one of our technicians.

    It has to be titled index.html in order to be recognized automatically as a starting page.

  3. The following message is always shown when accessing my domain: „Forbidden – You don't have permission to access on this server”.

    You have not defined a correct starting page for your domain. Please title your starting page index.html and take care that the file name is written only in lower case letters. It will not work if it is called Index.html (with an upper case I at the beginning).

  4. What shall I do if I have lost my password?

    Please contact our support by phone, because we can not send any passwords by e-mail due to security reasons. Our support staff will reset your password immediately.

  5. What do I need for managing my PlusServer?

    You only need a normal PC that is connected to the internet. The complete management of your PlusServer is carried out in our convenient web interface, which enables you to manage your PlusServer even without any Unix knowledge. If desired you can get full root access to your server by SSH, so that you can change any operating system settings yourself if you like.

  6. What equipment is there in the PlusServer data center?

    Our data center in Strasbourg (Europe) is connected directly to the internet by means of our gigabit backbone. The server rooms are fully air conditioned and protected against power outage and overvoltage by an UPS (uninterruptible power supply).

    You can setup up to 500 virtual servers on a PlusServer.

  8. Can I register domains through PlusServer?

    Domains can be setup easily with our web-based registration tool: just a few clicks and the domains are registered within a few minutes. The prices for domains can be found in your customer area.

Answers to payment and administration questions

  1. What are PlusServer’s payment conditions?

    Server rent and bandwidth are charged – at your option – for one, six, twelve or 24 months in advance. Traffic exceeding the booked volume is due at the first working day of the following month. All payments are due immediately after billing and can be paid by direct debit.

  2. Is payment on open account possible?

    Payment on open account is only possible in exceptional cases and only for public authorities and major enterprises, provided that a good reliability exists. Unfortunately, we have to charge 7.50 Euros handling fee per bill.

    If direct debit fails, we have to charge you handling and bank fees amounting to 15 Euros.

  4. What happens if I am in default?

    You will get a reminder according to legal regulations. After six weeks of default your server will be blocked until receipt of payment, after three months without payment all data on your server will be deleted and your domains unregistered. At the same time legal dunning proceedings will be instituted.

    The minimum term can be between one and 36 months.

  6. In which intervals will my PlusServer be charged?

    It’s your choice: you may either pay the server rent and bandwidth monthly or for half a year in advance. In case of monthly payment a handling fee of 15 Euros per month is charged. Traffic exceeding the booked volume is due at the first working day of the following month. All payments can be made by direct debit. Of course, we will send you detailed invoices by post before withdrawal.
